The Beloved Rice Bin.
I saw this at a friend's house one time and thought it was such a neat idea. I copied her and we have had it ever since.
Matthew's attention span for this activity is not as long as those that are older but still seems to enjoy it for a minute or two. I try to change up what is in the rice bin frequently. However, the funnels are definitely are a stay.
Lo, and behold Water!
Matthew's attention span for this was quite long which tells me it is a perfect activity for him. The only precaution is watching closely that he does not slip on it when finished. But, I still think it is so worth it from just watching.
Lemons,bowls,and a pitcher, oh my!
I am no professional in Child Development but I would hope to think that this creation was helping Matthew learn to understand some basic forms of math. We counted the lemons, we measured how many lemons fit in a small bowl vs. a large bowl. We poured or may I say dumped and last of all we learned what was heavy vs. light.
Most of all, I was just excited to see an activity keep his attention for more than two seconds.
