Our Summer Routine

I am so thankful for the Montessori School system.

I love the fact that I can give my children a weekly work routine/plan like this and they complete it.  The reason that they can complete it is because they are use to working with weekly work plans at their Montessori school.

In a Montessori school, each child is given a developmentally appropriate work plan.  The child gets to choose what he or she does first, second and so forth. However, they are still required to complete the work plan by the end of the week.

This one system has taught my children time management, self-motivation, initiative, intrinsic motivation, and so much more.

Although their summer routine at home is different from the work plan that they see at school, it does not overwhelm them and it has made my life so much easier. I give their Montessori school all the credit for this. I am thankful to their teachers for the fact that I do not feel such the need to remind or nag on what still needs to be accomplished.  They know what is expected and what rewards and activities are planned for the week as they finish each day's routine.

Maybe you have a system too.  Please share. It may be better than the one that I have posted.
