Rainforest - Week 5

We finished up from last week's class and made our rain sticks.  I love how unique each of the rain sticks were.

Nothing like some modge podge and paper.

Funny thing is that it began to rain that afternoon and the following two days after.  Hmmmm......

What is Carbon Dioxide?
 Science Experiments with CO2

  What is the Oxygen Cycle?
  What is Photosynthesis?

After experimenting and discussing, we talked about why the rainforest is called the "lungs" of the earth.  We discussed the importance of preserving the rainforest and all the reasons why. It was amazing to hear the responses from these children.

The Rainforest Plants
To learn about all the amazing plants of the Rainforest, we broke them up into the layers of the rainforest.  We took at least 30 minutes to read and be ready to present information on what we learned.

So many amazing plants to learn about.

Kapok - Brazil Nut - Winged Seeds - Tualang Tree - Epiphytes - Stranglers - Lianas - Rafflesia

....and this is only the beginning.

I think we are ready to visit the Biosphere 2 now that contains a self sustaining rainforest biome inside of it.
